HENRY EWER

Henry died in the Katharine House Hospice on Friday morning, June 23 after a long battle against cancer.

He was remembered at a service at Alkerton in St. Michael's Church on Friday June 30 at 11 am.

Henry was churchwarden at Alkerton for 17 years during which time he organised the transformation of St Michael's Church including the introduction of electricity for heating and lighting. The lighting in particular was done with such sympathy that the church has become even more of a gem than it was previously.

He also dealt with English Heritage in organising the preservation of the frieze of figures around the front of the church and raised the funds necessary to cover the cost of this work.

Perhaps his most cherished task was to transform the vestry cum organ room into a Lady Chapel and to fit it out with such a high level of care.
